چکیده
Wettability of sedimentary rock surface is an essential parameter that defines oil recovery and production rates a reservoir. The discovery wettability alteration in reservoirs, as well complications occur analysis heterogeneous sample, such shale, for instance, have prompted scientists to look the methods assessment at nanoscale. At same time, bulk techniques, which are commonly applied, USBM ( United States Bureau Mines ) or Amott tests, not sensitive enough cases with mixed rocks they provide average values core plug. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) has been identified one allow measurement adhesion forces between cantilever sample exact location These can be used estimate locally. Current research, however, shows correlation trivial. Moreover, force via AFM extensively studies geological samples yet. In this study, tip interaction quartz inclusion on shale surface, measured using technique. particular case was equal capillary water meniscus, formed tip. Experiments were conducted SiconG (tip radius 5 nm). grain 56.5 ± nN. Assuming half spherical, per area 0.36 0.03 nN/nm 2 . measurements results acquired nano-scale will thus create path towards much higher accuracy-wettability consequently better reservoir-scale predictions improved underground operations.

Atomic Force Microscopy and Direct Surface Force Measurements
The atomic force microscope (AFM) is designed to provide high-resolution (in the ideal case, atomic) topographical analysis, applicable to both conducting and nonconducting surfaces. The basic imaging principle is very simple: a sample attached to a piezoelectric positioner is rastered beneath a sharp tip attached to a sensitive cantilever spring. Undulations in the surface lead to deflection o...
متن کاملAtomic Force Microscopy Application in Biological Research: A Review Study
Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is a three-dimensional topographic technique with a high atomic resolution to measure surface roughness. AFM is a kind of scanning probe microscope, and its near-field technique is based on the interaction between a sharp tip and the atoms of the sample surface. There are several methods and many ways to modify the tip of the AFM to investigate surface properties, ...
متن کاملNoncontact atomic force microscopy
No other method has opened the door to progress in nanoscience and nanotechnology as much as the introduction of scanning probe methods did in the 1980s, since they offer a way to visualize the nanoworld. For maximum impact, however, the ability to image and manipulate individual atoms is the key. Initially, scanning tunneling microscopy was the only scanningprobe-based method that was able to ...
متن کاملIntermodulation atomic force microscopy
A mode of atomic force microscopy AFM is demonstrated where an oscillating AFM cantilever having linear response is driven with two frequencies in the vicinity of a resonance. New frequencies in the response, known as intermodulation products, are generated when the linearity of the cantilever response is perturbed by the nonlinear tip-surface interaction. A rich structure of the intermodulatio...
